Espanyol's Modern Ground
RCDE Stadium, originally Estadi Cornellà-El Prat, opened in August 2009 on the border between Cornellà de Llobregat and El Prat de Llobregat in greater Barcelona. Built over roughly three years at a cost of around €60 million, it replaced Espanyol's tenancy at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys and was inaugurated on 2 August 2009 with a 3–0 win over Liverpool. In 2010 it was named Venue of the Year at the Stadium Business Awards.
The arena was renamed Power8 Stadium in 2014 under sponsorship and renamed RCDE Stadium in January 2016. With 40,500 all-seater places it is the tenth-largest stadium in Spain and the third-largest in Catalonia. Beyond hosting RCD Espanyol, it has become a key concert venue in the Barcelona metropolitan area for international tours such as Rammstein, The Black Eyed Peas and Robbie Williams.
