RCDE Stadium de Cornellà, Barcelona
The RCDE Stadium is the home of RCD Espanyol, inaugurated on 2 August 2009 with a friendly against Liverpool. It stands on the border of Cornellà de Llobregat and El Prat de Llobregat, just outside Barcelona — a location that gave the ground its original name, Estadi Cornellà-El Prat. The stadium's opening closed a long chapter for Espanyol, who had sold their old Sarrià ground in the 1990s and spent years sharing the Olympic Stadium on Montjuïc before finally returning to a home of their own.
With 40,500 seats, it is one of the larger club stadiums in Spain and also hosts concerts and other large events through the year.
Getting there
The stadium lies in the southwestern outskirts of Barcelona, near El Prat airport. By public transport, connect through the Cornellà interchange using a Renfe R4 train or metro line L5, then continue to the ground; a taxi from the airport takes roughly ten to fifteen minutes.
