Designed by Japanese architect Arata Isozaki and opened in 1990 as part of the Olympic Ring on Montjuïc, Palau Sant Jordi was built ahead of the 1992 Olympic Games and has been the largest indoor arena in Spain ever since. Its sweeping domed roof holds up to 17,960 spectators for entertainment events and around 16,159 for sport, and the hall was renovated in 2014.

Over more than three decades the arena has hosted national and international touring artists alongside major indoor sporting competitions, making it one of Barcelona's principal large-capacity venues.

Getting there

Palau Sant Jordi sits at Passeig Olímpic 5 on Montjuïc hill, in the Sants-Montjuïc district of Barcelona, next to the Estadi Olímpic within the Olympic Ring. Allow extra time for the walk up the hill on event days, as crowds converge on the Olympic area from the surrounding streets and public transport stops below Montjuïc.
