Palacio Vistalegre, Madrid
Palacio Vistalegre is a multipurpose arena in the Carabanchel district of Madrid, built on the site of the Plaza de toros de Vista Alegre, a bullring inaugurated in 1908 and demolished in 1995. The current building opened in 2000 and was designed from the start to move between worlds: bullfights, concerts, basketball and other sport, conventions and political rallies.
The complex is organised around three spaces — the main Arena with room for around 14,000 spectators, the mid-sized Center for about 5,000, and the smaller Sala San Miguel — which lets it host everything from arena tours to club-scale shows.
Getting there
The arena stands on Calle de Utebo in the Vista Alegre area of Carabanchel, south-west of central Madrid. The district is well connected by the city's metro and bus network, and taxis and ride-hail services reach the entrance directly.
Palacio Vistalegre FAQ
How many people fit in Palacio Vistalegre? The main Arena holds around 14,000, with smaller halls — the Center and Sala San Miguel — for mid-sized and club events.
Was there really a bullring here? Yes — the 1908 Plaza de toros de Vista Alegre stood on this site until 1995, and the arena still stages bullfighting alongside music and sport.
