The Malaysia National Hockey Stadium sits inside the Kuala Lumpur Sports City complex in Bukit Jalil. Planned from 1993 as part of Malaysia's preparations to host the 1998 Commonwealth Games, the main pitch was built in 1997 and inaugurated in September 1998 in time for the Games. It comprises a 12,000-seat main stadium and an adjacent 2,000-seat secondary pitch used for training and lower-profile matches.
The venue is the principal home of Malaysian field hockey, having staged FIH international events including Sultan Azlan Shah Cup editions and the 2023 FIH Junior World Cup. In 2017 it became the first FIH Global Elite Pitch ever certified, and in 2019 it was upgraded with a polyethylene artificial turf. It also doubles as a concert venue, hosting acts such as Maroon 5 in 2025.
