Groupama Stadium, Lyon's modern arena in Décines

Groupama Stadium — also known as Parc Olympique Lyonnais or Parc OL — opened with its first match on 9 January 2016 in Décines-Charpieu, in the eastern suburbs of Lyon. Designed by Populous, the 59,186-capacity stadium is the home of Olympique Lyonnais and hosted matches at UEFA Euro 2016 in its opening year, before becoming one of France's regular stages for major football and stadium concerts.

The ground anchors OL Vallée, a leisure district that has grown around it with an arena, training facilities and a fan zone, making event days a full-precinct experience.

Stands and seating zones

The bowl follows the classic French layout: two lateral stands run along the touchlines with the most central views, while the north and south ends — the virages, home to OL's most vocal supporter groups at football matches — sit behind the goals. Hospitality lounges and club areas occupy the middle tiers of the lateral stands. For concerts, the pitch converts to a standing and seated floor, with stand seating retained around it; each production publishes its own plan.

Getting there

Tram line T3 from Lyon Part-Dieu is the backbone of event-day access: alight at Décines Grand Large, about an 800-metre walk from the stadium, with services reinforced before and after events. Drivers can use the Meyzieu les Panettes park-and-ride at the end of the T3 line, from which tram shuttles reach the stadium esplanade in under 15 minutes. Bus 85 also links the T3 corridor to the Décines OL Vallée stop.
