Eventim Apollo, London

The Eventim Apollo on Queen Caroline Street in Hammersmith is one of London's most storied live venues. It opened in 1932 as the Gaumont Palace, a lavish Art Deco cinema designed by Robert Cromie, and the Grade II* listed building later became famous as the Hammersmith Odeon, the stage for landmark shows across rock, pop and comedy. Today it operates as the Eventim Apollo, with a flexible floor that allows around 5,000 people for standing shows or roughly 3,600 when fully seated.

The fan-shaped auditorium and deep stage that impressed cinemagoers in the 1930s still define the room, giving big touring productions a sense of occasion few London venues can match.

Getting there

The venue is in central Hammersmith, west London, on Queen Caroline Street, a short walk from Hammersmith's Underground and bus interchange; driving is not recommended as parking nearby is very limited.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Eventim Apollo the same as the Hammersmith Odeon? Yes. The building opened in 1932 as the Gaumont Palace, was renamed the Hammersmith Odeon in 1962, and has carried the Eventim Apollo name since 2013.

Are shows seated or standing? It depends on the event: the stalls can be set as standing or fully seated, while the circle is always seated.
