Estadio La Cartuja stands on the Isla de la Cartuja between two arms of the Guadalquivir in Seville. It opened on 5 May 1999, built for that year's World Championships in Athletics, with the Spanish national football team beating Croatia in the inaugural match. After an expansion completed in 2025 the stadium holds around 70,000 spectators, making it the largest in Andalusia and among the largest in Spain.

Over the years La Cartuja has staged Spain internationals, Copa del Rey finals, UEFA Euro 2020 matches and major concerts, its wide athletics-era bowl lending itself to large touring productions.

Getting there

The stadium occupies the northern sector of the Isla de la Cartuja. Public transport to the immediate surroundings is limited — bus routes reach the vicinity, and the journey from Seville's central train station takes roughly half an hour, so allow extra time on event days.
