Seville's Multi-Purpose Giant

Built on the Isla de la Cartuja in Seville, the stadium was completed in 1999 to host the World Championships in Athletics that summer. Originally configured with an athletics track and a capacity around 57,629, it was conceived as part of a failed Olympic bid and quickly became Spain's largest multi-purpose venue. Over the years it has staged the 1999 IAAF Worlds, the 2003 UEFA Cup final and matches of UEFA Euro 2020.

La Cartuja is the regular neutral venue for the Copa del Rey final and frequently hosts the Spanish national football team. After a major refurbishment, it was re-inaugurated on 26 April 2025 with an expanded capacity of about 70,000 for that year's Copa del Rey final. It has also become a stop for the biggest stadium tours touring Spain, including Bruce Springsteen and AC/DC.
