Diego Armando Maradona Stadium is the home of SSC Napoli and, with 54,732 places, the fourth-largest football stadium in Italy. Opened on 6 December 1959 in the Fuorigrotta district, it was known for six decades as Stadio San Paolo before being renamed in 2020, days after the death of the Argentinian who led Napoli to its first league titles.

The ground was remodelled for the 1980 European Championship and again for the 1990 World Cup, when it gained its roof, and beyond football its bowl has long doubled as one of southern Italy's biggest concert stages.

Getting there

The stadium stands in Fuorigrotta, west of central Naples, close to the Mostra d'Oltremare exhibition centre. The district is served by Naples' rail and bus network, and taxis work the approaches; on match and concert days the surrounding streets fill early, so public transport is the practical choice.
