Ciudad del Rock, Arganda del Rey (Madrid)

Ciudad del Rock is a purpose-built open-air festival site in Arganda del Rey, on the south-eastern edge of the Madrid region. It was created to host the first Spanish edition of Rock in Rio, announced in 2007 and opened on 27 June 2008, and went on to stage every Madrid edition of the festival in 2008, 2010 and 2012. The grounds cover some 200,000 square metres with a stated capacity of up to 96,000 people and around 6,000 parking spaces, making it one of the largest dedicated concert sites in Spain.

Since the Rock in Rio years the venue has been used intermittently for major festivals and large touring productions, its scale suiting events that outgrow city-centre venues.

Getting there

The site is in the municipality of Arganda del Rey, which is connected to the capital by the Madrid Metro's Arganda del Rey station as well as by road; many events also run dedicated bus services from central Madrid, and the venue's own car parks handle around 6,000 vehicles.
