Bluenergy Stadium, Udine

Bluenergy Stadium is the sponsored name of the Stadio Friuli, home of Serie A club Udinese since it opened in 1976 as the replacement for the old Stadio Moretti. The ground originally held over 41,000 spectators and hosted matches at the 1990 FIFA World Cup. After renovations in 1990 and a three-year rebuild completed in 2016, it is now an all-seater stadium with a capacity of 25,144.

The 2013-2016 project preserved the main stand with its landmark concrete arch, while the east stand and both curvas were demolished and rebuilt much closer to the pitch after the running track was removed.

Stands and sectors

The stadium has four sides: the main stand (tribuna) under the arch, the rebuilt east stand opposite it, and the two ends, Curva Nord and Curva Sud, which traditionally host the home supporters' groups. With the athletics track gone, every sector now sits close to the playing surface.

Getting there

The stadium is at Piazzale Repubblica Argentina 3, north-west of the centre of Udine. Urban bus line 9 links the central railway station with the stadium area in about 20 minutes, and routes 2, 5, 9 and 10 connect the station and old town to stops within roughly a 10-minute walk of the ground. On matchdays, shuttle buses run from Udine railway station with dedicated stops near the stadium. A standard 60-minute bus ticket costs 1.45 euros via the TPL FVG or Drop Ticket apps.
