An Iconic Arch, Reborn

Opened in 1976 on the northern edge of Udine, the Stadio Friuli was originally designed as a multi-use venue with an athletics track surrounding the pitch and a distinctive single concrete arch sheltering the main grandstand. Home to Udinese Calcio throughout its history, it underwent a first refresh in 1990 ahead of the World Cup before being almost entirely rebuilt between 2013 and 2016 at a cost of around 50 million euros, with three sides demolished and reconstructed closer to the pitch while preserving the iconic west arch.

The redeveloped ground reopened on 17 January 2016 with a Serie A match against Juventus, becoming one of Italy's first modern, club-owned football arenas. Originally branded Dacia Arena, it was renamed Bluenergy Stadium under a new sponsorship deal. The 25,144-seat stadium has since hosted Italy national team fixtures and was awarded the 2025 UEFA Super Cup final, cementing its role as a benchmark medium-sized venue in Italian football.
