The National Circuit Autodrome of Monza is a 5.793 kilometer (3.600 mile) race track in Italy, near Monza, which is north of Milan. It was the oldest motor racing circuit in mainland Europe and the third purpose-built circuit in the world, after Brooklands and Indianapolis.
The Italian Grand Prix is the circuit’s biggest event. It was built in 1922.The race has been held there since 1949, with the exception of the 1980 season. The site is located in the Royal Villa of Monza park in a woodland setting. It has three tracks: the 5.793 km (3.600 mi) Grand Prix track, the 2.405 km (1.494 mi) Junior track, and a 4.250 km (2.641 mi) high speed oval track with steep bankings that was left unused for decades and had been decomposing until it was restored in the 2010s. After the Variante del Rettifilo, which is located at the end of the front straight or Rettifilo Tribune, the high speed curve known as Curva Grande is usually taken flat out by Formula One vehicles.
Notwithstanding Equation One, the circuit recently facilitated the 1000 km Monza, a high-intensity games vehicle race held as region of the planet Sportscar Title and the Le Monitors Series.Race of Two Worlds, which attempted to pit Formula One and USAC National Championship automobiles against one another, were also held at Monza. The Grand Prix motorcycle racing (Italian motorcycle Grand Prix), WTCC, TCR International Series, Superbike World Championship, Formula Renault 3.5 Series, and Auto GP were also held at the racetrack in the past.In addition to hosting the Monza Rally Show and various local championships like the TCR Italian Series, Italian GT Championship, Porsche Carrera Cup Italia, and Italian F4 Championship, Monza also plays host to rounds of the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup, International GT Open, and Euroformula Open Championship. In 2020, Monza facilitated the 2020 World Meeting Title last round, ACI Rally Monza, with the circuit facilitating 10 of the 16 convention stages.
The Monza 21 Half Marathon and the Monza 12h Cycling Marathon are two cycling and running events that take place in Monza. Nike scientists chose Monza as the location for the Breaking2 event, in which three runners attempted to break the marathon’s two-hour time limit. Eliud Kipchoge finished in 2:00:25. Monza is a very fast track, but it has also been the scene of many fatal accidents, especially in the early years of the Formula One world championship. There have been 52 drivers who have died there, and 35 spectators have also been killed there. The lack of run-off areas, most notably at the chicane that divides the Variante della Roggia, is still criticized by current drivers, despite the track’s constant modifications to reduce curve speeds and improve spectator safety.
