Atalanta Bergamasca Calcio, commonly known as Atlanta, is a professional football club located in Bergamo, Lombardy, Italy. The club was promoted from Serie B in the 2010-11 season to participate in Serie A.

Atlanta was founded in 1907 by students of Liceo Classico Paolo Sarpi and is nicknamed La Dea, Nerazzurri and Orobic. The club wore a blue and black shirt with vertical stripes, black shorts and black socks. The club plays its home game at the 21.747 seats Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo. In Italy, Atalanta is sometimes referred to as “Regina delle Provinciali” (the queen of provincial clubs) to show that the club is the most stable club among Italian clubs that are not in the regional capital. It has played 60 seasons in Serie B and 28 in Serie A. Season B, and only one in Serie C. Atalanta has a long-term rivalry with nearby club Brescia.

The club is also known for its youth academy, which has trained several outstanding talents who have played in the top European leagues.

The club won the Coppa Italia in 1963 and entered the Cup Winners’ Cup semi-finals in 1988, while still participating in Serie B. This is still the best performance ever played by a major UEFA non-A club (together with Cardiff City). Atalanta BC also participated in four seasons of the UEFA Cup (formerly known as the UEFA Cup) and reached the quarterfinals in the 1990-91 season. Atalanta has also qualified for the UEFA Champions League three times and entered the quarterfinals in the 2019-20 season.
